Being a pilot with the Defiant Defense Force, Spensa's life has not been typical. She proved to be one of the most skilled starfighters in the human settlement of Detritus, and she prevented her people from being wiped out by the mysterious alien race known as the Krell, who had been imprisoning them for many years. In addition, she left her home planet light-years away to enter the Superiority as an undercover spy, where she discovered information about the cosmos beyond her little, lonely world.

A galaxy-wide conflict has now been sparked by the Superiority, the ruling galactic alliance determined to rule over all human existence. Spensa has also witnessed the Delvers, which are their intended means of destruction. The ancient, enigmatic extraterrestrial powers that have the capacity to instantly destroy whole planetary systems. Spensa is aware that the predator cannot be defeated, regardless of the number of pilots in the DDF.

Spensa is Cytonic, however. She confronted a Delver and saw something uncannily similar to it. Perhaps she might be more than just another pilot in this conflict if she can discover who she is. The cosmos may be saved by her.

But leaving behind all she knows and entering the Nowhere is the only way she can find out who she truly is. A location very few people ever go back to.

To be courageous is to face one's fears. And it's a scary mission.
