Patch and Nora believed their problems were over. Now that Hank is no longer with them, their terrible grudge should be forgotten. Patch and Nora devise a scheme to trick everyone into thinking they have split up and manipulate the system from the inside since they can't let that happen. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They're going to put a stop to this conflict before it starts.
However, even the best-laid schemes may go wrong. After being tested in her new position, Nora discovers she is lured to a power she never expected to become addicted to.
