As soon as Darth Vader's funeral pyre on Endor burns completely down, a distant Imperial outpost calls for assistance, which is picked up by the Alliance. Even if the Imperial Governor Nereus has temporarily given the Rebels pardon, there is a chance that individuals whose primary loyalty is to the Empire would turn against them.
