Earthsea's sixth novel available in a stunning hardcover. A Wizard of Earthsea, The Tombs of Atuan, The Furthest Shore, Tehanu, and Tales from Earthsea round out the book.

Using drawings by Charles Vess.

Sleep scares the sorcerer Alder. In his nightmares, he is in the realm of death, where he finds his late wife, who kissed him over the short stone wall separating our world from the Dry realm, where lovers pass one other without knowing each other and the grass is withered. At night, the dead are drawing Alder toward them. They may be able to break free and take over Earth via him.

Alder asks former archmage Ged for guidance. He must proceed to Tenar, Tehanu, and the young king at Havnor, Ged commands. Amber-eyed Irian, a vicious dragon that can change into a woman, joins them.

The only spot in the world where the menace can be faced is the Immanent Grove on Roke, where the dragon, wizard, sage, king, and hero make their last stand.

Le Guin blends her beautiful imagination with a very grounded, modest, and human touch.
