thirty adolescent girls. A charming prince. A fight to the death

There is a shortage of water. The country is now covered by deserts. Humanity has been destroyed by nuclear war. Living in walled megacities, humans prevent the radiation from entering. The region that was once known as America is split up into kingdoms that are headed by aristocratic kings.

Zea Calico, sixteen, was born into the lowest Echelon of the Kingdom of Phangloria and had to endure a life of hardship, hunger, and dehydration. Zea is fervently committed to aiding the revolution since it is the only way out of this misery.

Zea enters the Princess Trials in order to look for flaws in the palace when the palace calls for contestants to vie for the hand of Prince Kevon in marriage.

The trials ought to be a romantic tale complete with lavish feasts, ball dresses, and romance, but Zea draws the Prince's attention with a mispronounced word. Zea faces the danger of falling in love and losing focus on her goal as she discovers the man behind Prince Kevon's public persona.

Zea must battle to survive when the televised beauty pageant turns lethal.
