Tipping the Velvet

Oyster girl Nan King becomes enthralled with Kitty Butler, a male impersonator extraordinaire performing on Canterbury's music hall stages. Nan is able to see all of her performances and eventually meet her heroine thanks to a friend she made at the ticket office. She soon takes on the role of Kitty's dresser, and the two set off for Leicester Square's dazzling lights, where they launch into a sparkling career as music-hall stars in a duo act that includes all singing and dancing. Simultaneously, in private, they confess their love for one another and start their relationship.
