Among demons, Ozroth the Ruthless is a legendary figure. Strong and ruthless, he drives hard deals to gather the souls of the dead. However, since a deal went wrong, his reputation has deteriorated; if he can work out a deal with Mariel, he will regain his lethal reputation. Mariel refuses to fulfill the contract that Ozroth demands of them since it seems that certain people are inextricably linked to their souls.
The witch is humorous, however. and rounded. And charmingly, but repulsively, happy. As Mariel blurts out that she's dating Ozroth, their uncomfortable roommate situation swiftly becomes worse since she's afraid to tell her mother about the unintentional summons. As Ozroth and Mariel struggle with their opposing goals and maintaining a fake relationship, real attraction blooms between them. However, Ozroth is running out of time to make the bargain, and Mariel will lose all of her feelings, including love, if she gives over her soul, which would only end badly for them both.
