Afterlives

Ilyas was taken from his parents when he was still a young boy by German colonial forces. He returns to his home after years away, having fought in a war against his own people, to discover his parents dead and his sister Afiya taken away.

At the same moment, another young man returns. Instead of being taken for granted during the war, Hamza was sold into it and raised under the watchful eye of a commander whose defense has given him lifelong marks. With nothing more than the clothing on his back, his sole goals are security and employment, along with the affection of the stunning Afiya.

The shadow of a fresh conflict on a different continent grows longer and darker, waiting to seize these young people and bring them away, while fate ties them together as they live, work, and fall in love.
