English mathematician Charles Lutwidge Dodgson wrote Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, often known as Alice in Wonderland, under the pen name Lewis Carroll in 1865. The story describes a little girl called Alice entering a fantastical realm full of odd, anthropomorphic animals after falling down a rabbit hole. The story's clever use of reasoning has made it enduringly popular among both adults and children. It is regarded as one of the most excellent instances of the literary nonsense subgenre. Its characters, plot, and imagery have all had a significant impact on popular culture and literature, particularly in the fantasy genre.
