Nightmares come first.

Ellie has horrible nightmares every night about hideous monsters who are out to get her and will murder her.

The recollections follow.

Ellie feels as if she is just about to recall something when she meets Will. Ellie has a deep and passionate connection with him, as if they have known each other for ages. When Will unlocks Ellie's power on her seventeenth birthday at midnight on a pitch-black street, she realizes she can battle the monsters who follow her in the pitch-black. Ellie's memories—whole lifetimes' worth—are locked up in Will's hands, and she can no longer pretend that whatever she sees is a dream.

She needs to hunt now.

Ellie has unmatched strength, and her mission is to track down and eliminate the reapers that feed on human souls. She must, however, also search for the mysteries of her previous lifetimes and perhaps terrifying realities in order to survive the perilous and historic conflict between the Fallen and the angels.
