"Hi, I'm the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you..."
Jennifer Scribner-Snyder and Beth Fremont are aware that someone is keeping an eye on their work emails. (This is known to everybody in the newsroom. That is corporate policy.) However, they are unable to force themselves to consider it seriously. They continue exchanging amusing and never-ending emails with one other, talking about every detail of their personal lives.
Lincoln O'Neill, meantime, finds it hard to comprehend that reading other people's emails is his new job. When he sought to be a "internet security officer," he didn't see himself filling out a report every time a sports reporter sent a crude joke; instead, he saw himself smashing hackers and erecting firewalls.
Lincoln realizes he need to report Beth and Jennifer's texts as soon as he sees them. However, he finds himself enthralled and intrigued by their tales.
It's far too late for Lincoln to make his introduction by the time he realizes he's falling for Beth.
How would he respond?
