Claire Nichols wakes up in a strange bedroom in an opulent estate, scared to learn that she was kidnapped by Anthony Rawlings and fell into his vicious clutches by accident. Claire doesn't know why she's there, but it's been made very obvious that anything she does has repercussions since she is now his property.

Claire is forced to adapt to an unfamiliar world where she must learn to survive since the towering, dark-eyed tycoon, who is a genuine master of deceit, is the source of all her livelihood's uncertainty. He is driven by unidentified demons and will not tolerate flaws in anything, even in his most recent purchase. Though Anthony presents himself to the world as a charming, kind businessman, Claire has personal experience of him being a threatening, dominating captor who has extremely severe rules: follow orders, don't fail in front of others, and appearances are everything.
