In her most recent book, Palahniuk writes about thirteen-year-old Madison, who ends herself in Hell and attempts to make the most of her situation while not knowing why she would be there forever.

"If The Shawshank Redemption had a baby by The Lovely Bones and it was raised by Judy Blume," was how the author put it in describing the book. Furthermore, "it's kind of like The Breakfast Club set in Hell."
