Dead Over Heels

When you can't relax in your lawn with a refreshing drink without worrying about a corpse falling from the sky and landing in your garden, what kind of world is this? Roe Teagarden, a part-time librarian and amateur detective, had excellent cause to ask herself this question one lovely bright morning when the body of one of the best officers from the Lawrenceton, Georgia police department explodes into her flower bed. Roe's friend and bodyguard, the long-legged, bikini-clad Angel Youngblood, is mowing the grass and Roe is reclining on a lounger when a small red-and-white plane flies low overhead and drops its unlikely debris more or less at Roe's feet. Rich businessman Martin Bartell, who has been married to Roe for two years, questions right away if the murderer picked his trash site as a way to communicate with Roe. And when two federal investigators come to town to look into the murder, the mystery becomes deeper. Only until Madeleine the cat gives them a hint do Roe and Martin understand that Roe could be in danger and that it was no coincidence that they were using Roe's yard as a makeshift graveyard.
