Defy the Night

The collapse of the kingdom of Kandala is imminent. Since a virus started destroying the kingdom, rifts across sectors have only gotten deeper, and the monarch maintains a precarious calm within the Royal Palace with a merciless hand.

Following the horrific murder of his parents, Prince Corrick the younger was left to assume the cruel position of King Harristan's Justice. The only way to keep the peace when the illness may strike anyone and there is a dangerously limited supply of the only known remedy, an elixir produced from exquisite moonflower petals, is for the brothers to respond brutally to any indication of rebellion.

Tessa Cade, an apprentice pharmacist in the Wilds, is fed up with seeing her neighbours suffer and die while the stubborn royals do little to alleviate their pain. Even though she and her closest friend Wes put their lives in danger every night to collect Moonflower petals and provide the elixir to people in need, it is still insufficient.

With the word getting out that the treatment is no longer effective and revolt brewing, Tessa becomes so desperate that she tries the unthinkable: breaking into the palace covertly after a particularly harsh act by the King's Justice. However, what she discovers when she gets there makes her question if Kandala can really be fixed without being destroyed first.
