Esperanza Rising

Esperanza believed that she would always have servants, a lovely house, and elegant clothes while she lived with her family on their property in Mexico. However, during the Great Depression, a shocking tragedy compels Esperanza and Mama to travel to California, where they make their home in a camp for farmworkers from Mexico. Esperanza isn't ready for the hard labor, financial struggles, or lack of acceptance she now faces. Esperanza's mother's life and her own rely on her finding a solution to overcome her challenging circumstances when their new existence is under danger.
