The release date for the English version of 'Fight Night' by Miriam Toews is Oct 2021. If you enjoy this novel, it is available for buy as a paperback from Barnes & Noble or Indigo, as an ebook on the Amazon Kindle store, or as an audiobook on Audible.

The adored author of the best-selling books Women Talking, A Complicated Kindness, and All My Puny Sorrows makes a triumphant comeback with a witty, intelligent, and fast-paced novel that is a celebration of love and tenacity in an odd family.

The story of Fight Night is recounted through the unique narrative of nine-year-old Swiv, who lives in Toronto with her expectant mother. The mother is raising Swiv while taking care of her own elderly, fragile, but incredibly vibrant mother. Grandma steps in as a teacher when Swiv gets expelled from school and assigns her to write to Swiv's absent father about life in the home during the last trimester of her pregnancy. Swiv then assigns Grandma a task: to compose a letter to "Gord," her unborn grandchild and Swiv's upcoming sibling or brother. Grandma writes to Gord, "You're a small thing, and you must learn to fight."

Fight Night explores the suffering, love, joy, and most importantly, the will to live a decent life among three generations of women in a close-knit family, while Swiv documents her ideas and observations. The protagonist of this book, however, is Swiv's witty, irrational, and indomitable grandmother. She is someone who understands firsthand the price of survival in this society and has yet managed to love and fight to the very end, on her own terms.
