A year after her divorce, thirty-two-year-old Helen Carpenter allows her obnoxious brother, who is 10 years younger than her, to persuade her to enrol in a wilderness survival school. She can't understand how the trip would be anything other than a nightmare when she finds out that her brother's much more obnoxious best buddy is also going along. It's meant to be her opportunity to get herself together again. And so starts the oddest experience of Helen's well-mannered life: three weeks in the most distant wilderness of a Wyoming mountain range, where she will have to withstand a bunch of sorority ladies, an unexpected summer snowstorm, and mosquito infestations.
Nevertheless, in spite of everything, Helen's little existence nevertheless seems larger among the huge wilderness. And for some reason, the individuals who irritate her the most begin imparting the knowledge she needs to know. such is how to advocate for oneself. And how fear may inspire bravery. And how, on sometimes, the only way to even have a chance of being discovered is to just go really lost.
