Does your kid get guilty when he is unable to look you in the eye?
Teenager Jacob Hunt suffers from Asperger's syndrome. Even though he is intelligent in many other areas, he is useless at interpreting social signs and effectively communicating with people. However, forensic analysis is the one area in which he specializes. He constantly shows up at crime scenes and gives the police instructions thanks to a police scanner in his room, which provides him with information. He's generally correct, too.
However, police enforcement comes to Jacob when a horrific murder shakes his little hamlet. Although Jacob exhibits classic Asperger's symptoms, the local police mistake his actions for guilt. The Hunt family, who only want to blend in, are suddenly the center of attention. Emma, Jacob's mother, sees it as a harsh reminder of the bigotry and miscommunication that constantly endanger her family. Theo, his brother, sees it as just further proof that everything is abnormal because to Jacob.
And hanging over this little family is the agonizing question: Did Jacob kill anyone?
