Evie Thomas no longer has faith in love. Particularly when the oddest thing happens one ordinarily typical afternoon: she sees a couple share a kiss and is struck by a vision of the beginning and end of their romance. After all, even the most romantic tales ultimately result in heartbreak.

Evie finds herself in La Brea Dance Studio learning to waltz, fox-trot, and tango with a male named X while she tries to figure out why this is happening. X embodies all the qualities that Evie lacks: boldness, passion, and adventure. Saying yes to everything is his guiding principle, even if it means competing in ballroom dancing alongside a female he's just recently met.

Evie most definitely did not intend to fall in love with X. If anything, her heartbreak-filled visions have taught her that nobody ever truly comes out of love unharmed.
