D-Day is drawing near. The Germans know it will happen soon, even if they are unsure of the location or time. For Felicity "Flick" Clairet, the stakes could not be greater. Flick, a sabotage-focused senior agent in the Special Operations Executive (SOE), has persevered to become one of the UK's most successful operators in Northern France. She is aware that the Germans' communication networks are what will determine whether they can stop the Allied onslaught, and in the days leading up to the invasion, nothing is more strategically significant than the biggest phone exchange in Europe.

Her life, however, is turned upside down when Flick and her husband, the commander of the Resistance, attempt a direct, head-on attack that goes terribly wrong. She has one more opportunity to reach the goal, but the once-difficult task is now all but impossible due to the destruction of her group, the disappearance of her spouse, the doubts of her superiors, and the severe damage to her confidence.
