Mary is a middle-aged, reserved lady who does her best to disappear into the background. Nothing special. Not visible. not even aware of herself.
However, Mary's internal state has been shifting recently. She's experiencing heat flashes, physical pains, dizziness when she looks in the mirror, and voices in her brain have been pushing her to do horrible things.
After being fired from her New York career, she returns to her birthplace in an attempt to make amends with her past and her inner self. Instead, she starts to automatically write odd ideas and words as she is more overcome by images of horrifying, disfigured specters. Mary learns that these incidents are reminiscent of a notorious serial murderer.
Then the murders start up again.
There's little doubt Mary will discover who she is.
