Twice, Amos Decker's life was irrevocably altered.
It was on the gridiron the first time. He was the lone professional athlete from his hometown of Burlington, and he was a large, tall athlete. However, his career terminated before it could really take off. He was permanently removed off the pitch on his very first play due to a horrific helmet-to-helmet collision, which had the unlikely side effect of making him forget everything.
It happened at home about twenty years later the second time. After returning from a stakeout one evening, Decker, a police detective now, was met with a nightmare: his wife, little daughter, and brother-in-law had all been killed.
With his family gone, the identity of their murderer as enigmatic as the crime's reason, and an inability to forget even the slightest detail from that terrible night, Decker feels as if his whole world is crumbling around him. After losing his house and leaving the police department, he ends himself homeless and does odd gigs as a private investigator when he can.
However, a guy surrenders to the authorities and admits to the killings more than a year later. Simultaneously, a horrifying incident almost knocks Burlington to its knees, and Decker is summoned again to assist with this inquiry. Decker also grabs the opportunity to find out what really transpired with his family that evening. He must utilise his extraordinary skills and face the associated difficulties in order to reveal the startling truth. The memories he would much rather forget, yet suffer. And he may have to provide the very best.
You'll remember Memory Man long after the last page is turned.
