For a young girl growing up in 1950s suburban America, life is difficult enough without having to deal with a potentially witchy mother. a mother by herself, no less. She certainly looks good in her fitted gowns, pearl necklace, and flowery aprons. And then there are the magical, quiet discussions with needy local ladies. The enigmatic and repulsive flora in the flower gardens. the omen to avoid a guy whose future is undoubtedly doomed. But as this charming homemaker's daughter ages and her mother's assertions seem more and more ludicrous, she starts to doubt everything she had previously taken for granted.
