Jordan Banks, a seventh student, enjoys nothing more than creating caricatures of his life. Jordan's parents choose to register him in a prominent private school that is well-known for its academics, where he is one of the few students of colour in his year, rather than sending him to the art school of his dreams.

Upon his daily commute from his flat in Washington Heights to the affluent Riverdale Academy Day School, Jordan quickly discovers that he is not really a member of either culture. Can Jordan maintain his friendships with his neighbourhood pals and be loyal to himself while navigating the culture of his new school?
