O is for Outlaw

Regarding Kinsey Millhone's history, readers have been given meager amounts of information—a little here, a little bit there—over the course of fourteen volumes. We are aware of her second husband, who abandoned her, Aunt Gin, who reared her, and the long-lost relatives along the coast of California. However, until now, spouse number one was only a blip on the screen.

On a Monday morning, a man who scavenges auctioned off defaulting storage facilities calls Kinsey. He purchased a stack of boxes last week. They contained something, something kinsey. He'll sell her the whole thing for thirty dollars. She's never been one to collect personal items, but her curiosity gets the better of her and she gives over twenty. Though inquisitive, Kinsey enjoys haggling! Amidst childhood mementos, she discovers an old, unopened letter.

She will be forced to reevaluate her views on the dissolution of her previous marriage, Mickey's honor, that first spouse, and an old unsolved murder. Her life will be in the greatest danger as a result. Kinsey Millhone's sixteenth excursion into the darker side of human nature is titled "O Is for Outlaw".
