One to Watch

Bea Schumacher is a plus-size fashion blogger with a killer sense of style, a loving family, hordes of Instagram followers, and a profoundly shattered heart. Bea indulges in her weekly passion, like most Americans do: the popular reality programme Main Squeeze. The idealised dates! The rejections with a kiss! How surprisingly many males there are called Chad! Bea, however, is fed up with the show's lack of body diversity. When did being a size zero become a requirement for getting engaged on TV?

Bea receives an exciting call just as she has decided to give up on dating: Main Squeeze wants her to be their next star, and there will be guys fighting for her attention. Bea consents, but only on the condition that she never fall in love. Her goals are to advance her profession, challenge damaging anti-fat beauty standards, uplift American women, and have a complimentary hot air balloon flight. That is all.

However, Bea discovers that things are trickier than she thought as the cameras begin to film. In the middle of a made-for-TV fairy tale, she's engulfed in a tornado of opulent clothing, online cultural fights, attractive suitors, and a chance (or two, or five) to discover messy, real-life love.
