Jessica recounts her childhood in 1980s Texas, when she was molested sexually by a family friend's daughter. She also talks about her failed 13-year-old Mickey Mouse Club audition with Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake, and how she eventually signed a record deal with Columbia and wed 98 Degrees member Nick Lachey.
Along the way, she talks about the hardships she faced, including feeling pressured to provide for her family as a teenager, divorcing Lachey, going through what she calls an emotionally abusive relationship with musician John Mayer, experiencing body shaming in a society that places an excessive emphasis on appearance, and having periods of heavy drinking. Simpson, however, closes her remarks positively, talking of her marriage to professional football player Eric Johnson, with whom she has three children, and her billion-dollar clothing brand.
