Two hikers have gone missing. One enormous outback.

While on leave, DS Lucas Walker is caring for his ailing grandmother in Caloodie. He finds himself unofficially investigating the disappearance of two young German tourists who are traveling to a ranch from the region. However, given that they had likely just moved to the coast and left the heat and dust of the outback behind, why are the Federal Police showing such interest?

DS Walker is joined by the girl's sister as the couple's missing count rises. She is determined to locate her before it's too late, since she is a Berlin-based investigator herself.

Walker is still sure that there's more going on. His exposure to the expanding drug trade in Australia's rural interior has come from his work in the organized crime section. Is there a connection here?

With the blazing Australian summer as a background, the hunt heats up to an exciting crescendo as temperatures rise.
