Nick offers his assistance in solving the murder when Riley, the attractive and perhaps gifted woman, comes up high on the suspect list. purely out of a love of unraveling riddles more than a desire to show off his valiant qualities for the helpless.

All they need to do is find out who fired the gun, elude the prickly detective with a grudge, and handle a stranger who says he was assigned to assist Riley in developing her psychic abilities. All of this before the murderer realizes she's a loose end that needs to be cut.
