Shakespeare is flawed in some way. — When Lily Bard relocated to Shakespeare, Arkansas, she was fleeing painful memories. Her costs are now covered by housecleaning. Exercise aids in her recovery. She still covers her wounds, but underneath baggy sweatpants she reveals a strong physique and amazing martial arts talent. And no one realizes her true strength until she is forced to search for a murderer behind locked doors—doors that a housekeeper may know the key to—due to acts of racial violence.

Lily feels it is only right to rescue a black guy who has been jumped by white adolescents by using her goju training. However, a few weeks later, she finds out he has been kidnapped and killed by beating. Then, at her gym, a bodybuilder is murdered. These two events unsettle Lily's demand for safety and protection. She eventually finds enough dirt by searching beneath carpets and behind closets to be certain that something evil is developing in her adoptive town. Getting involved may put her life in jeopardy. However, Lily is having new dreams and is seeing a new guy. And nothing can force this resilient lady to flee once again.
