Slough House

Brexit is underway. And the ranks of Slough Houses are getting smaller as a result of unexplained accidents. The eighth installment in the Slough House series is just as exciting and cutting edge as it has always been.

Diana Taverner is on the rampage, a year after a British person died from novichok poisoning due to a catastrophic error by the Russian secret service. The government's apparent lack of bravery has forced the Service's First Desk to launch its own counteroffensive, but not before striking a bargain with the devil. She might be on the verge of losing control of everything she has battled for, considering that the devil in issue is none other than master manipulator Peter Judd.

The slow horses, however, are concerned they've been dragged farther into the cold as they're still in shock from their previous losses. Records of Slough House have been removed from the Service, and tragic mishaps continue to occur. It makes sense why Jackson Lamb's group is feeling uneasy. Have they been targeted, though? The old order is making sure that everything is for sale to the highest bidder, while a new populist movement is taking over London's streets, making life miserable for those who are considered unnecessary. It would be prudent to choose a secure location and bide your time till the problems subside.

But the slow horses aren't known for their ability to make good choices. And not even Jackson Lamb can protect his people from danger, since there are adversaries on every side.
