Her scars should have healed with a new life in paradise. But one stormy night might alter everything for a mother fighting for her family and her sanity.

Bit by bit, Annie Lin's life falls apart. Her dancing studio fails to make money. In the same year, her mother and her cherished dog pass away. Then her small kid suffers damage from a horrific accident.

A change is warranted.

With her husband and kid at home in their new Kauai house, Annie should feel secure and at ease among the palm palms, mai tais, and silence. She believes that being close to her family would give them all a feeling of security and belonging. However, shortly after old things from her past begin to surface—a bracelet that vanished years ago, her dog's collar, for example—she begins to feel uneasy, as if someone is watching her. Annie starts to have panic attacks again as reality starts to crumble. Annie is pleased to have company amid a gathering storm and develops an inexplicable relationship with the lady who shows up on her doorstep seeking refuge.

Annie learns later in the evening that the lady is not a stranger. Because of how deeply their lives are connected, Annie might end up losing everything.
