A secret belongs to Marcus Caster-Rupp. Fans of fanfiction refer to him as Book, even though the rest of the world knows him as Aeneas, the lead character of the largest TV series, Gods of the Gates!An anonymous, well-known poster is called Aeneas Would Never.Marcus is able to get out his own frustrations with his character through his stories, especially the ones that feature the internet’s favorite couple to ship, Aeneas and Lavinia. But he would be fired if anybody ever discovered his internet identity. Right away.

April Whittier has her own secrets. She has long concealed her fanfiction and cosplay interests from her "real life" as a devoted Lavinia fan, but that is changing. Her picture becomes very popular once she chooses to share her most recent Lavinia creation on Twitter. Her plus-size perspective is being criticized by trolls as well as admirers, but she discovers that real life is more crazier than fanfiction when Marcus, one half of her OTP, sees her photo and approaches her for a date in an attempt to spite her detractors.

Marcus soon comes to the realization that he wants much more from April than just a one-time PR stunt, even after their disastrous first date. He also has a big secret to keep from her when he finds out that she is really his closest fandom buddy, Unapologetic Lavinia Stan.
