Still Life

Thanksgiving Weekend finds Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and his Surete du Quebec colleagues at a tiny community in the Eastern Townships after they uncover a dead corpse in the woods. Gamache finds it hard to believe that anybody would wish to murder beloved artist Jane Neal on purpose, much alone any of the people who live in Three Pines, a community that is so crime-free it doesn't even have its own police department.

However, Gamache is certain that evil is hiding somewhere behind the white picket fences and that Three Pines will begin to reveal its sinister secrets to him if he pays close enough attention.
