At Sunset Beach, grab a lounge chair and enjoy a cocktail that has a unique twist.

The life of Drue Campbell is aimless. After a twenty-year absence, her estranged father, Brice Campbell, a colorful personal injury attorney, comes up at her mother's burial. She is unemployed and struggling financially, and it doesn't seem like her life is getting any better. Even worse, he remarried to Wendy, his office manager and Drue's archenemy from eighth grade. Additionally, they are hiring her.

Although it seems like the work of a lifetime, the offer is made more appealing by the information that she has inherited her grandparents' beach cottage in Sunset Beach, a quaint but dilapidated property that is now encircled by waterfront McMansions.

Drue reluctantly joins the practice since she has no other options. She spends her days weeding out the jerks whose calls constantly flood the legal office. It's not easy working with Wendy either. She transforms from an unwilling cubicle rat to an unintentional investigator after a mysterious death at a posh beach resort nearby reveals potential wrongdoing at her father's company. She is then pulled into a case that may or may not include her father. There is undoubtedly a storm approaching Sunset Beach, with an office romance building, a decades-old missing persons case reopened, and a cottage undergoing rehabilitation.

Complete with all of Mary Kay Andrews's trademark heart, wit, and charm, Sunset Beach is an engrossing ride.
