As the only child of a single mother, Nina's life is exactly what she wants it to be: she works at a bookshop, is on a competitive trivia team, is an expert planner, and has a cat called Phil. She just shrugs and takes up a new book if she has moments when she thinks there may be more to life than reading.
Nina is shocked when the father she never knew existed passes away unexpectedly, leaving behind several sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews. They're all local residents! For the most part, they can't wait to meet her! She will need to Talk. To. Unknown. It's a catastrophe! Not only that, but Tom, her trivia rival, has shown to be kind, humorous, and really curious about getting to know her. Is he not aware of how awful that notion is?
Nina weighs her choices.
1. Total makeover in terms of look and name. (Too harsh; moreover, she's partial to her hair.)
2. Take off for an isolated island. (Tough pass; refer to coffee).
3. Rock back and forth while hiding in a corner of her flat. (I'm doing it already.)
Nina knows it's time to leave her cosy shell behind, but she doesn't think reality could ever measure up to fantasy. To make her flip the page on her own, she will need a new family, a persistent suitor, and the concoction of trivia and ice cream.
