The Counselors

For Goldie Easton, there is just one place she feels secure: Camp Alpine Lake.

Even before she was old enough to go, she felt a particular connection with the location. Her little village of Roxwood depends on the camp for survival. Alpine Lake gives the area reputation, money, and employment. Living so near to the glitzy summer camp, with its five-figure tuition and privileged youngsters deposited there for eight weeks by their influential parents, is not something that many Roxwood residents get to enjoy. Goldie is among them.

Goldie, a "townie" by birth, has never felt more at home at camp, and now that she's returned as a counselor, she can't wait for summer to begin and for her closest friends, Imogen and Ava, to show there. Because Goldie needs the comfort now more than ever and has been hiding a horrible, dark secret.

However, Goldie is not the only dishonest individual at the camp. She realizes the death must have been an accident when an adolescent comes up dead in the lake late one night. She is also aware that Ava spent that evening at the lake.

What is Ava aware of and what did she witness? Why has she kept the death a secret from Goldie? What Ava did was far worse.

However, probing inquiries leads to more betrayals and concealed danger than Goldie could have ever anticipated, as well as damaged friendship relationships that cannot be repaired.
