Have you ever wished to see yourself as you were in the past?
It doesn't take long for Alexis Spencer to find another motivational saying to justify her mistakes and brush off all of her issues. Her closest friends are only a distant memory, her job has been gone, her boyfriend breaks up with her, and her student debt is still as big as it was on the day she left. As usual, she places the blame for her issues on everyone and everything, even on her own 18-year-old self, who ought to have made a better effort and directed their life. Alexis, overcome with self-pity, embarks on a drinking spree to block out her troubles and eventually passes out. The only difference is that this time she doesn't wake up at home, and she isn't even in the correct year or place.
When Alexis returns to her college town in 2002, she believes she has been given another chance to make things right. However, this is short-lived as she encounters her wild, 18-year-old self, who goes by the name Lexi because it's "sexier."
The simple part is getting used to living in the early 2000s. Where things get tricky is when dealing with Lexi. She needs to be persuaded that Alexis is, in fact, from the future first. She must then convince Lexi to allow her to dwell in her dorm room. Ultimately, they have to learn to get along and accept that they will never be able to make things right on their own, but that they can improve their lives by working together.
