The Innocent

America faces vicious adversaries that are unstoppable by law enforcement, the FBI, and even the armed forces. At that point, the US government sends for Will Robie, a cold-blooded hitman who always follows instructions without question and never fails to hit his victim. However, Will Robie could have just committed the first and final error of his professional life.

It all starts with a misfired hit. Robie is sent to kill a target in Washington, D.C., abnormally close to home. However, Robie feels that something about this assignment is wrong, so he does the unimaginable action. He declines to murder. Robie now finds himself a target and has to flee his own people.

As Robie escapes the scene, she meets a mischievous fourteen-year-old girl who is running away from a foster home. She is not your typical escapee, however; her parents were killed, and she faces risk to her life. Robie discovers that he is unable to leave after saving her, going against all of his professional traditions. He must assist her.

To make matters worse, the more Robie discovers about the kid, the more he believes she is at the core of a massive cover-up that might reach unfathomably high levels of authority and perhaps explain the murders of her parents.

Now, in order to save this girl's life—and even his own—Robi might need to come out of hiding.
