Trier is the oldest city in Germany and is well-known for its wine and Roman culture. Thus, the local authorities are aware that they are in over their heads when a guy is discovered dead, his corpse seemingly coated in a fungus-induced decay.

Luckily, this is Germany, where everything has a procedure.

Enter Investigator Tobias Winter, whose goal is to enter, solve the issue, and leave with the least amount of drama, risk to himself, and paperwork. He quickly connects the first victim to a group of common middle-aged males with the assistance of the alarmingly exuberant local police officer Vanessa Sommer, realizing they may have unintentionally reignited a violent conflict from a bygone era. However, the decay is still there, literally, and since the suspect list includes those who were alive when Frederick the Great was alive, cracking the case could reveal the city's magically hidden past.

as long as they are not the first to die from that history.
