Acquittal
The Queen of Attolia lost more than just a legendary treasure when Eugenides, the Thief of Eddis, took Hamiathes's Gift. It cost her face. Eugenides had managed to outmaneuver and elude her, as was well known. The Queen of Attolia will stop at nothing to regain her reputation and reclaim her throne; she will even endanger her nation in order to exact the ideal retribution.
However,
Eugenides is a master thief. Additionally, he mocks the Queen of Attolia by supposedly going through her fortifications at will. Attolia waits, safe in the knowledge that the Thief will trip and return too often to her castle.
But at what cost?
Eugenides has three things to steal: a man, a queen, and peace when he discovers his little mountain nation at war with Attolia. But when he manages to seize something that the Queen of Attolia believed she had long since surrendered, it becomes both his greatest victory and his worst defeat.
