In order to discover a place where you genuinely belong, sometimes you have to leave everything behind.
The cat Nana is travelling. Though he has no idea where he's going or why, it means he gets to spend time with his cherished owner, Satoru, in the front seat of a silver van. They travel side by side through the many seasons of Japan, stopping at the old haunts of Satoru. He meets Kosuke, the grieving widower whose cat-loving wife has just left him, Yoshimine, the cold-blooded and heartless farmer for whom cats are merely ratters, and Sugi and Chikako, the kind couple who operate a pet-friendly B&B. Nana is even forced to reconsider his contempt for dogs by a really remarkable dog.
However, why are we on this road trip? And why is Nana capturing the attention of everyone? Satoru won't disclose, and Nana is unsure. His little heart will bleed, however, when Nana eventually figures it out.
