After escaping death, a cursed girl enters a mystical realm where she is put to the ultimate test.

I call Morrigan Crow cursed. Due to her birth on Eventide, the unluckiest day for a child to be born, Morrigan is held responsible for all local tragedies, including heart attacks and hailstorms. Worse still, the curse dictates that she will die at midnight on her eleventh birthday.

Yet a peculiar and exceptional guy by the name of Jupiter North emerges while Morrigan waits for her demise. Followed by enigmatic hunters on horseback and dogs with black smoke, he whisks her off to the safety of Nevermoor, a mythical, hidden city.

At that moment, Morrigan learns that she has been selected by Jupiter to compete for a spot in the Wundrous Society, the most esteemed group in the city. She has to participate in four risky and challenging trials to win entry, where she will face off against hundreds of other kids, all of whom claim to have a unique gift that makes them stand out—a talent that Morrigan maintains she lacks. Morrigan will have to find a means to pass the tests in order to permanently remain in the protection of Nevermoor; else, she will have to leave the city and face her terrible destiny.
