The Wall

Devastated by the Shift, an island nation during a period akin to our own constructed the Wall, a massive concrete wall encircling its whole coastline. As a rookie Defender, Joseph Kavanagh's only mission is to keep his piece of the Wall safe from the Others—desirous people who are stuck outside amid the rising seas and pose a continual threat. Failure will be death, or even worse, being cast out to sea and turned into an Other. Despite growing closer to his fellow Defenders, Kavanagh is plagued by feelings of fear, loneliness, and cold, yet he still strives to do his obligations to his exacting Captain and Sergeant. He has a dark side that makes him question if it would be intriguing if something did happen, if they arrived, and if he had to defend himself.
