The White Tiger, which introduces a significant literary talent, is a narrative of sharp humor, intense tension, and dubious morality recounted by the most unpredictable, alluring, and completely unique narrator of the new century.

Balram Halwai is a multifaceted individual. Philosopher and servant. Businessman and murderer. In seven nights, under the shattered light of a ridiculous chandelier, Balram tells us the horrifying and captivating tale of how he succeeded in life despite having nothing but his own cunning to guide him.

Balram, who was raised in the impoverished region of India, finds hope when he is employed as a driver by the richest man in his village, along with two Pomeranians named Puddles and Cuddles, as well as the man's unfortunate son. Balram's new reality is shown to him while driving their Honda City vehicle. Balram observes as his employers bribe foreign ministers for tax breaks, barter for girls, drink liquor (single-malt whiskey), and play their own part in the Rooster Coop, while his peers read Murder Weekly ("Love -- Rape -- Revenge!"), barter for girls, and drink liquor (Thunderbolt). Balram gains knowledge on how to refill and resale Johnnie Walker Black Label bottles (all save one), deal with dishonest technicians, and steal gas. Additionally, he discovers a route out of the Coop that is invisible to everyone else.

Few foreigners can see India through Balram's eyes: the call centers and bugs, the prostitutes and devotees, the old and Internet cultures, the water buffalo, and the white tiger, who is imprisoned in so many different types of cages that escape is (nearly) impossible. Additionally, Balram shows us that while money and religion don't generate morality, decency can still be discovered in a corrupt society and you may achieve your goals in life if you listen in on the proper discussions. His charm is both obvious and surprising.

With a mischievous and unique personality, The White Tiger has all the makings of Bangkok 8 and The Death of Vishnu in terms of ambition, scale, and narrative brilliance. A striking, controversial debut, this book is a worldwide publishing phenomenon, amoral, irreverent, immensely lovable, and absolutely modern.
