Before reading any further, if you haven't read anything about the Baudelaire children, you need be aware of the following: Though Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are intelligent and kind-hearted people, their lives are unfortunately riddled with hardship and misfortune. This may be the worst of the three miserable and depressing tales concerning these three youngsters. This book will undoubtedly make you feel hopeless if you can't handle a narrative with a cyclone, a signaling gadget, hungry leeches, frigid cucumber soup, a terrible villain, and a doll called Pretty Penny. I shall keep writing these sad stories because that is what I do. But ultimately, you have to choose whether or not you can bear to live through this awful tale.
