Samira Wilder has never had an easy life, and things are only about to get worse as her most recent horrible job goes south. until she meets a guy by chance who will permanently alter her course in life. Samira is mesmerized by the good looks, money, and compassion of renowned professional golfer Roland Graham. The best part is that he appears to know her better than anybody else has. And even though Samira accepts Roland's proposal, their relationship advances a little too quickly. She even consents to move onto his remote Colorado estate. Ultimately, there's nothing keeping her in Miami, and he is obviously content with the estate. They soon tie the knot in front of a flurry of media attention, and Samira is eager to start over as the second Mrs. Graham.

Samira moves into the estate and is contentedly living there until she finds long-hidden notebooks that belonged to Roland's late wife Melanie, who passed away in a horrific accident. Samira starts to understand with every worn-out page that maybe it wasn't an accident after all—that maybe her ideal spouse isn't as ideal as she believed. Samira is determined to learn the truth about Melanie's difficult last days, despite the fact that her faith in Roland is starting to erode, a cloud is gathering over her marriage, and she starts to worry for her own life. However, decent spouses should be aware that things are not always as they appear.
