The World Played Chess

Vincent Bianco has recently received his high school diploma in 1979. All he wanted was to get some beer money and make the most of his last summer before heading off to college. Thus, he secures employment as a worker on a construction team. Vincent receives the education of a lifetime while working with two Vietnam veterans, one of whom is experiencing PTSD. The lessons of that summer—Vincent's last taste of innocence and first taste of real life—now, forty years later, with his own son heading off to college, dramatically unfold in a story about breaking away, molding a life, and pursuing one's own destiny.
