"Them" started out as a book on several types of extremists, but after getting to know a few of them—Islamic fundamentalists, neo-Nazis, and Ku Klux Klansmen, for example—he discovered that they all had the strange idea that a small, shadowy elite controls the whole globe from a hidden chamber.
In "Them," Jon sets out to find the chamber with the fanatics' assistance. Along the way, Jon is exposed as a Jew in the heart of a Jihad training camp, pursued by guys wearing dark glasses, and watches politicians and CEOs from across the world taking part in an odd pagan ceremony in the northern California woodlands. The voyage is both funny and eerie.
"Them" delves into extremism in an engrossing and engaging way, revealing some startling facts about the "them" and "us" looking-glass world. Do the radicals have a point? Has Jon turned become one of THEM?
